Registered Pharmacist
A Registered Pharmacist is in charge of all medication
dispensing and management within the hospital. Medication dispensing ranges from
Tablets and Capsules to Intravenous fluids and Hyperalimentation. A Registered Pharmacist
also oversees the Pharmacy Technicians and works closely with physicians, nurses,
and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements to obtain a degree:
•College- minimum 6 years plus a clerkship.
•State Board Examination Required
•Residency programs are also available.
•Minimum Degree: Pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy)

Pharmacy Technician
A Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a
Registered Pharmacist assisting with drug dispensing, purchasing, distribution,
and order entry.
Requirements to obtain a position:
•College: Not required
•On the Job Training
•Optional: Certification programs are available at some colleges
throughout the state.
•Optional: After a period of time of on the job training a technician
can take the National Pharmacy Certification
Exam.
