Dr. Chung provides comprehensive, state-of-the art diagnostic and surgical services for a variety of general surgical disorders. He has an established reputation for excellent and compassionate patient care and he specializes in the latest, minimally-invasive procedures such as transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) surgery for the treatment of chronic GERD.

Education:
  Dr. Chung completed his general surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. In the Clinical Investigation Certificate Program, he received the NIH K30 Clinical Research Curriculum Award, funded by Iowa Scholars. He received his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and received his bachelor’s degree in economics from University of California Irvine.

  He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons.

  General surgeon Joseph Chung, M.D, has his practice at #1 Doctor’s Park in Gibson City sharing office space with Anthony San Diego, M.D. As a general surgeon, Dr. Chung will be performing all aspects of general surgery. He enjoys watching movies and listening to music. Dr. Chung also spends time with his family and is going to be an Illini fan.
