Medical Surgical Unit |
|
|
The medical surgical nursing staff
provides caring, individualized attention to all patients who are hospitalized for
illness, surgery or testing and observation. Our nursing staff works together with
the physicians, pharmacists and physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapists
to provide quality care to each patient.
Preoperative and postoperative nursing care is provided for patients following abdominal
surgery such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), hysterectomy,
colon surgery, hernia surgery and more. Patients having orthopedic surgery including
total hip and knee replacements, rotator cuff repairs and carpal tunnel surgery
will also spend time on the medical surgical unit. Many of the visiting specialists
perform surgery here so that patients and their families do not need to travel out
of town for their care.
Our medical surgical unit accommodates patients of all ages. We offer semi-private
and private rooms – and one room especially for children. Because of our smaller
size, the patients get more individualized attention from the nursing staff.
General visiting hours are 11:00am-8:00pm and we recommend that visitors be limited
to 2 at a time. Please respect the privacy of other patients while visiting your
friends and family.
There are special times when family members are encouraged to stay; we recommend
that a parent stays with a child who is a patient at all times. We bring in a recliner
or bed and allow parents to order from the hospital food menu while staying in the
hospital.
If a patient is in isolation, visitors will be given specific instructions to visit
the patient.

versed in nutrition through out the lifecycle. The goal is to provide a customized
