GAHHS COO/CNO Robin Rose Speaks at Paxton Chamber Meeting

On Wednesday the Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce invited Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services (GAHHS) Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, Robin Rose, to speak to the chamber members. During her presentation Rose informed the chamber members that GAH has again been named the #1 hospital in the nation for patient satisfaction because of the support the hospital receives from the people in the communities we serve.

“While the name of the hospital is Gibson Area Hospital, it is just a much Paxton as it is Gibson,” said Rose. “We are a partnership and without the people of Paxton and the surrounding communities, we would not be number one again in patient satisfaction. It is you, who truly makes GAH a great hospital.”

Rose also gave the chamber members an overview of the hospitals upcoming plans for the Paxton Clinic. She explained that the clinic would soon be offering extended and weekend hours for non-emergent needs. Rose also mentioned that the hospital had just finished the construction to connect the current Paxton Clinic with the former Champion Fitness building.

“With this first step completed, we will be able to continue construction to create the doctors’ offices needed to offer the specialty clinics for a cardiologist, a spine surgeon, and possible another Geriatric Behavior Services. The behavioral services would be similar to our Doctor’s Park office in Gibson City,” explained Rose.

“I want to thank the Paxton Chamber for inviting Robin to speak today,” said Rob Schmitt, CEO of GAHHS. “Robin is a great speaker and really represents the heart and soul of GAHHS. Robin works tirelessly for GAHHS, the physicians, and the communities we serve. Being named #1 in the Nation in Patient Satisfaction for the 2nd time in three years, and all the additional services coming to the Paxton Clinic and the Paxton area are a testament to her dedication and service to GAHHS and the region. I am proud and honored to work with such a great person.”

Kathy Swan, Illinois Knight Templar Home Administrator, said that having these extended and weekend hours in Paxton would help her in running her nursing home. “We have 90 employees working 3 shifts at Knights Templar. Having these extend and weekend hours would benefit us greatly, because if an employee calls in sick and needs to visit a doctor after traditional hours, they can now go somewhere local and get back to work instead of spending hours just driving to Champaign-Urbana.”

When asked what this means to the Paxton community, Karen Abbe, the President of the Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “With the hospital we have a strong partnership and we really appreciate all of the time, effort, and money the hospital puts into the Paxton community.” Abbe continued, “The specialty clinics will be a great addition to the Paxton community. While Gibson City isn’t that far from Paxton, I still have to take a little time off of work for some of my doctor visits. With the specialty clinics being added in Paxton, I would be able to go on my lunch hour and not have to worry about making up the missed time.”
