Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services (GAHHS) welcomes Jim E. Edwards as its new Executive Director of Information Technology (IT). Jim has over 30 years of IT experience, 18 years of which, he was the Director of Information Systems with Decatur Memorial Hospital.
During his job search process Jim came across the hospital’s website. He was so impressed with the hospital’s annual report and the diversity of care solutions listed on the GAHHS website that he decided to apply for the Executive Director of IT position. Jim said after his conversations with GAHHS CEO Rob Schmitt that he knew he had made the right decision to apply. “After talking with Rob I was impressed with the fact that GAHHS is a very progressive healthcare provider who takes its Mission and Vision very seriously.”
Even though Jim has only been with GAHHS for one week he said he likes that GAHHS is a “people first” organization. “GAHHS comes across as a very progressive healthcare institution that believes in treating its employees with respect and dignity, which is returned with happiness and a strong work ethic,” said Jim.
Jim and his wife, Becky, have been happily married for 31 years. They have a son, a daughter, and 3 granddaughters, all of which are the joy of his life. Jim enjoys spending time with his family but you can also find him outdoors hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and working in his garden or on his lawn.
