GAHHS co-sponsored a program put on by The Prairie Center of Urbana on December 12th-13th. The Prairie Centers mission is to provide treatment services in prevention, intervention, and treatment of addictions and associated conditions. Former NBA player and recovered drug addict Chris Herren spoke to a packed house both days, including 2000 high school students about his journey as an 18 year old All American to an addicted drug abuser and junkie. It costed him his NBA career and his family. His story was featured as a 30 for 30 ESPN documentary. He travels the country telling kids to say no, don't do it. Everyday, 2000 kids try drugs for the first time and every hour three kids will die of an overdose.
