Robert Schmitt Re-Elected To Illinois Hospital Association

Robert Schmitt, CEO, Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services (GAHHS), has been re-
elected to the Illinois Hospital Association’s (IHA) Board of Trustees as a regional trustee. Schmitt begins his second three-year term on Jan. 1, 2013.

Schmitt has served GAHHS since 2002, first as the Chief Financial Officer and since 2007 as the Chief Executive Officer. He has been a member of the Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) Board of Directors since 2010. Schmitt also serves the IHA as Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Compensation Trust, Board Member of the Illinois Provider Trust, and Board member of Illinois Business Solutions.

The IHA Board of Trustees is the Association’s policymaking body. The Board is made up of 33 trustees, including 17 at-large trustees elected by the voting members of the Association, nine regional trustees elected directly by the regions, seven elected officers (chairman, chairman-elect, immediate past chairman, immediate past, past chairman, treasurer, and secretary), and the Association’s president ex-officio. Constituency sections, councils and ad hoc task forces provide members with opportunities to participate in the Association’s policy development process.
