Sylvia Day, Director of Quality & Risk & Case Management, has been awarded the Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services (GAHHS) November Employee of the Month.
A native of the Gibson City area, Sylvia graduated as an RN from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and has worked at Gibson Area Hospital for the past 29 years. She has seen GAHHS undergo many changes to help maintain and increase the ability to provide quality care to patients.
“I have worked at the hospital for some time and especially like the people that I come in contact with either by direct patient care or dealing with family interventions. In our society, it has become increasingly difficult for patients and families to interpret existing regulation for coverage of care, especially post-hospital. One of my responsibilities for our patients and families is to explain these regulations and assist them with decision making which hopefully leads to an easier transition at discharge.”
In her spare time, Sylvia likes to work in her flower garden, camp, and fish. She and her husband Dan also enjoy attending the activities of their 10 grandchildren
