Starla Blackburn, of Milford, has been awarded the Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services (GAHHS) January Employee of the Month.
Starla, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Gibson Area Hospital Long Term-Care Annex (Annex), has been a member of the GAHHS family for the past four years. Starla says she enjoys coming to work because she loves helping others and building friendships.
“I love helping people and with that comes friendships,” said Starla “I truly cherish the friendships I have made with the residents and my co-workers.”
Starla says this is easy because of the example the hospital sets.
“I like the hospitals attitude to treat our residents as if they were our own family. With everyone working with the same attitude and goals in mind, the cooperation between co-workers and our different departments is great,” said Starla.
Starla and her husband of 33 years, Larry, have two sons, Jason and Kyle. Her most rewarding hobby is spending time with her five grandchildren: Brendon, Nicholas, Caden, Kylicia and Myles.
