Getting to Know GAH Cardiologist, Lalchand Goyal, M.D.

Since the sixth grade, Cardiologists Lalchand Goyal, M.D., wanted nothing more than to be a heart doctor. That desire of a sixth grade boy turned into a very successful career spanning over 30 years with some very large hospitals and most recently led Dr. Goyal to Gibson Area Hospital & Health Service.

Dr. Goyal’s journey started in 1981 when he left India to come to Chicago. Once in Chicago, he started his training in Cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital. In 1989, he started practicing as an Interventional Cardiologist; however over the years working in larger hospitals Dr. Goyal developed a desire to truly help.

“In big places there is a lot of help and I am really just a number,” said Dr. Goyal. “Gibson Area Hospital is the ideal place for me because here I will be able to use my 30 plus years of experience and knowledge to truly make a difference in an area where it is needed most.”

Being Gibson Area Hospital’s first full-time Cardiologist, Dr. Goyal has a plan for the future for Gibson Area Hospital Cardiology.

“My first goal is to develop a good cardiology program here at Gibson Area Hospital,” said Dr. Goyal. “That way our patients won’t have to travel 30 to 40 miles away, just to get their checkups and tests done.”

As the GAH Cardiology continues to grow, Dr. Goyal also envisions increasing the procedures done at GAH, one such procedure he envisions is cardiac catheterization.

Dr. Goyal and his wife, Pramila, have two daughters Meenal and Guari, and one son, Vikram. Both of their daughters are dentist and their son is a first year medical resident in internal medicine at Loyola Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Goyal’s interests and accomplishments stretch beyond the medical field. He enjoys Texas Hold’em Poker, considers himself ping pong master and has completed two marathons; something he looks forward to getting back into since joining a gym in town.

Dr. Goyal sees patients Monday and Wednesday from 1pm to 5pm at GAH Cardiology (#10 Doctors Park, Gibson City) and Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm to 5pm at the Paxton Specialty Clinic (227 N. Market St., Paxton). To make your appointment at GAH Cardiology call 217-784-4340 and 217-379-4864 to make your appointment at the Paxton Specialty Clinic.
