Donald Reese, M.D. Joins Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services

Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services (GAHHS) recently recruited Donald Reese, MD, to begin seeing patients at the Paxton Clinic. Dr. Reese specializes in Family Medicine with Maternity Care and is also Board Certified and Fellowship Trained. He is seeing patients at the Paxton Clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:15 am to 4:30 pm.

Dr. Reese, a native Coloradan, attended Colorado State University during his undergrad education and then attended Fuller Theological Seminary for graduate school. He attended medical school at the University of Tennessee and performed his Family Medicine Residency at the West Suburban Medical Center in Chicago. This residency program was a challenging academic environment which pushed and molded him into the type of physician he desired to be. In addition, the clinical setting granted him the opportunity to interact with and care for a population of patients who were both ethnically and socio-economically diverse. While this training was ideal, living in such a large and crowded area with a growing family was not.

This led Dr. Reese to GAH and the Paxton Clinic, where he seized an opportunity to serve a wonderful community while raising his two sons with his wife. Dr. Reese is excited to practice at the Paxton Clinic and GAH because he says he is enamored with and drawn to the fellowship found in smaller towns. He is looking forward to caring for and living life among these great communities.

"I am so thrilled with the opportunity to slow life down and enjoy the less cluttered and crowded life that a rural community has to offer, said Dr. Reese. "It will be great to have my sons grow up appreciating the open space and small town hospitality, the simpler pleasures that life has to offer away from the hustle and rush of the impersonal city."

Dr. Reese is a family man, committed social advocate, amateur theologian, burgeoning foodie, and broadly exposed fan of all things athletic. In fact, he spent two-and-a-half years in college as a track and field athlete, lacing up several pairs of shoes as a Decathlete/Sprinter.

The addition of Dr. Reese now brings the total of GAHHS Family Practice physicians who also deliver babies to nine, serving clinics located in Fairbury, Hoopeston, Farmer City, Gibson City, Onarga, Forrest, and Paxton.
