The Gibson Area Hospital Board of Directors has extended a new five year employment contract to CEO Robert Schmitt. Mr. Schmitt has been with Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services (GAHHS) for over 13 years, first serving as the hospital’s CFO for almost five years, before being appointed to the CEO position in April of 2007. Board of Directors President Jim Hood commented, “Rob has played a major role in our mission for a long time, and has done a great job in leading us. We are thrilled to have him lead us for the next five years.”
Under the direction of Mr. Schmitt, the hospital has grown revenues by over $150 million, created over 400 jobs in the area, and added nine rural health clinics, as well as many new physicians and services. The net worth of the organization has doubled under Schmitt's leadership. Mr. Schmitt stated “The GAHHS Vision is to be THE Model of Excellence in Rural Healthcare, and we strive to meet that Vision every day in everything we do. Providing the highest quality care and the highest levels of patient satisfaction are our main goals.”
GAHHS is Ford County’s only hospital and largest employer. Under the direction and vision of Mr. Schmitt, GAHHS has become the economic engine of the area and is responsible for millions of dollars given back in community benefits over the years. Mr. Schmitt said “It is a privilege to work for such an outstanding organization. GAHHS has an amazing medical staff providing excellent care to the patients and communities we serve. I have an outstanding Administrative Team in Robin Rose, Mike Meunier, and now our new CFO, Matthew Ertel. Robin and Mike really handle the day-to-day operations, and we are all looking forward to working with Matthew. I am fortunate to have such talented, professional people working with me.”
GAHHS is a 25 bed non-profit, Critical Access Hospital in Gibson City, Illinois.
