GAH Auxiliary Awarded Eight Scholarships at Spring Banquet

Gibson Area Hospital (GAH) Auxiliary held their annual Spring Banquet on Monday, April 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City. During this banquet, the GAH Auxiliary awarded eight scholarships to students pursuing careers in health care.

This year’s two Auxiliary scholarships were awarded to Stephanie Streenz, of Saybrook, and Holly Garcia, of Thawville. Stephanie works at GAH in administration and is in graduate school through Ohio University to get her masters in healthcare administration. Holly, the daughter of Pedro and Carolyn Garcia, currently works as a certified pharmacy tech at GAH. Holly is on the path to becoming a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Illinois and plans to practice rural medicine.

Two Verna Buck scholarships were awarded to Liberty Jamison and Kalista Klann, both of Paxton. Liberty, the daughter of Dennis and Jennifer Jamison, will attend Lakeland College this fall to begin her studies for a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) with a goal of becoming a NICU nurse. Kalista, the daughter of Mitchel and Tammy Klann, will enter Purdue University Northwest in the fall to pursue her BSN. Kalista ultimately wants to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).


The CEDF Scholarship was presented to Maya Brust, of Paxton. Maya, the daughter of Kurt and Teresa Brust, will be entering Illinois State University in the fall working towards a BSN to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.

The Arthur and Ane Jensen Noland Scholarship was awarded to Brooks Schmitt. Brooks, the son of Rob and Linda Schmitt of Gibson City, will be attending Bradley University this fall to study nutrition and dietetics.

The William and Viola Garrett Scholarship was given to Sydni Meunier, of Melvin. Sydni, the daughter of Mike and Patricia Meunier, is finishing her first year of medical school at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Upon completion of her medical degree, Sydni plans to become a rural physician.

The GAH Auxiliary Gift Shop Scholarship was presented to Emily Lange, of Gibson City. Emily, the daughter of Anthony and Stacey Row, will enter the St. Louis School of Pharmacy this fall and will study to become a pharmacist.

The Auxiliary congratulates each of this year’s scholarship recipients and wishes them all the very best in their chosen fields.
