Can Your Child Call 9-1-1 in an Emergency?

Can your child call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency? This is a critical skill that is recommended to be taught to all children, as early as 4 years of age!

This week, Raelynn, a brave 6-year-old Kindergartener from the GCMS school district, sprang into action just like her parents taught her! She recognized a family member in medical distress and without hesitation rushed into action by calling 9-1-1 for help! Her actions saved the life of this family member.

Calling 9-1-1 is an important lesson for all children to be aware of. Showing them how to use all phones, both mobile and land-based is important. Practice is key!

We recognize Raelynn's brave and quick action and hope that her story helps others learn the importance of calling 9-1-1 in an emergency!
