Transforming Rural Healthcare!

Innovation From Within Helps Transform Rural Healthcare!

Just a few weeks ago, GAHHS’s very own Jennifer Kinzinger Casey, MS, APRN, ACNP-C, Emergency Department/Hospitalist Services, was invited to participate in a Mayo Clinic conference, “Transforming Community and Rural Healthcare in 2023.” This was the very first conference of its kind and the focus was on addressing the unique challenges of rural hospitals.

"It was a privilege to be selected and have a voice at the table," said Kinzinger Casey.

Kinzinger Casey collaborated with the GAH Quality and Finance Teams on relevant data in order to submit an innovative idea regarding a streamlined, comprehensive team approach to patient evaluations from the time of admission. This is proposed as a benefit to the patient and their family, as well as our processes by decreasing unnecessary lengths of stay, decreasing the risk of hospital-acquired infection, decreasing extraneous costs, and maximizing reimbursements for care. Kinzinger Casey’s plan is new but applicable to all hospitals, especially rural and critical access hospitals, experiencing additional burdens placed on health care by ever-changing insurance company processes.

Just another reason why Gibson Gets It! Thank you Jennifer Kinzinger Casey for your innovative idea to provide our patients with 5-star care, always!
